The Tiny House Company has just released their latest design and build. Swallowtail – ‘The Complete Tiny House on Wheels’.
This tiny house is focussed on flexibility and affordability. It will make it’s first public appearance at the Brisbane Home Show in February 2018 and will be at the Salisbury Tiny House Company workshop from March onwards. This is a fully-equipped tiny house on wheels that is engineered for Australian Standard wind classification C2 (cyclonic) and designed and built by qualified professionals and tradespeople.
The design features a butterfly roof with an integrated box gutter and downpipe for easy connection and water collection, all hidden from view beside the feature paulownia timber screen. Textured ply cladding and corrugated sheeting make up most of the exterior, providing modern form with a typically Australian palette of materials. A deep framed window is featured at the high end for long views out and doors and windows are carefully located to maximise cross-ventilation and views through the space for a more open feel.
Internally there is a relatively open floor plan. A drop-down loft ladder helps to maximise options for arranging the space as you see fit. The layout and positioning of doors and windows, while maximising long views and air-flow, allows for future expansion of cabinetry and other built-in elements as your budget allows.
Dimensions are based around Ikea’s modular system of cabinetry and furniture so additions can tie in seamlessly with the core cabinetry units. Louvre windows and a mixed-use loft space come as standard. There is room for a double bed in the loft and a queen bed in the living space below.
The Tiny House Company will be presenting daily talks (23 Feb – 25 Feb) at the Home Show. Presentation times and topics are below:
10.30am – What is a Tiny House?
12.30pm – Designing Small Spaces
